The Turkish National Brain Bee

The Second Turkish National Brain Bee of Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU) will be held in March 10 2009, in Eskisehir, Turkey. Winners of Turkish National Brain Bee in 2009 will recieve their awards during this ceremony which is also the official start of Brain Awareness Week in Eskisehir. This year the Turkish Brain Bee will have 150 competitors from 15 different high schools in Eskisehir.

In 2007, Brain Bee Coordinator Dr. Ferhan translated the book “Brain Facts” into Turkish with permission of the SfN. Turkish version of the Brain Facts is sponsored by ESOGU with no commercial concern and the printed book will be delivered to the libraries of schools that are participating in the Brain Bee this year. Thus we will use Brain Facts as a source book for Brain Bee competition.

The main sponsor of the Turkish National Brain Bee is the Faculty of Medicine of ESOGU. ESOGU will give awards to the winners of the Bee. In the Turkish National Brain Bee Championship, the first place winner will receive 400YTL and cup, the second place winner will receive 300YTL and plate, the third place winner will receive 200YTL and plate.

Our second sponsor is Incekara Holding A.S. A basic scientific microscope will be provided to the school of the first place winner by this company.

Our third sponsor, Atayurt Reel Group Coursem, will support winners financially as they prepare for the entrance examination required by Turkish universities. Courses given by this private teaching institution will be free of charge for the first place winner. Second and third place winners will receive a 50% discount for these courses.
